Official Campaign Kickoff

Updated: Jun 11, 2023

Dear Friends and Neightbors,

At the end of March, Robert Brownell, announced after 24 years as Polk County Supervisor that he would not be seeking re-election. Because we need someone who is a proven fiscal conservative with a proven track record of delivering results, while understanding our community and our challenges, I am running for the republican nomination for Polk County Supervisor - District 2.

As a proud mom and wife, I am committed to ensuring Polk County is a place where my kids can grow up and raise their own families. To do that, we need strong, fearless leadership at the county level. I am ready to put my experience to work for you!

For over 16 years, I served on the Grimes City Council. During that time, we cut the property tax levy, improved and expanded city services and helped our small businesses grow. This was accomplished while cutting burdensome regulations. We enjoyed historic growth during my tenure because of our conservative leadership.

I am an attorney, small business owner and currently preside as chair of the Polk County Conservation Board. These experiences have given me opportunities to work with agriculture and business clients, provide public service and navigate through the complexities of running a small business. My involvement has shaped my knowledge and understanding of the needs within our individual communities and county, as well as providing a strong baseline to work at making us stronger.

With your help, I can use those lessons and experiences as I work for you and all of Polk County.

Like you, I love my community and the people who live here. I want to serve you in the best possible way. As District 2 Supervisor, I will represent over 100,000 residents in Alleman, Bondurant, Elkhart, Grimes, Johnston, Mitchellville, Polk City, Urbandale, and Sheldahl, as well as the surrounding unincorporated areas of the county. With your support, as your Supervisor, I will focus my efforts to:

· Balance the county budget by cutting wasteful spending

· Hold the line on property taxes and work to cut the levy

· Develop business-friendly policies for growth and economic opportunities

· Provide efficient, effective, high-quality county services

· Work towards safe neighborhoods for all ages

· Make Polk County the best place to live in Iowa

Campaigns aren’t easy, but I am willing to put in the time and work to earn the position of Polk County Supervisor. This will be a hard-fought, grassroots campaign and I plan to personally knock on the doors of residents across this district. You have my promise to always listen first. I want to hear your concerns and ideas to improve our communities within Polk County.

My husband, Kirk, our family, and I are ‘all-in’ when it comes to this race, but I need your help.

Can I count on your support to get started with the initial costs for my campaign? While this campaign is likely to cost well over $200,000, your early contribution is what I need to help with the initial costs of neighborhood visits, information flyers and pamphlets, parade supplies, yard signs, and website management.

Your contribution of $35, $85, $150, $275 or $500 is very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,

Jill Altringer
